Summer 1976
Hi - Welcome to my music vault. I have played bass for over 30 years now, and have made lots of good (and bad) recordings of the people that I played with. Playing Bass is a great escape for me, a way to be creative, and a relaxing hobby. I believe that God gave me this gift to share, and that it is my ministry. I hope you enjoy the music - Dave
Amy Young & Friends - 2000 -Today
Amy is an incredibly gifted singer/songwriter. I've been playing bass in her band since 2000, and she is a sheer joy to work with! It's also fun to play with the talented array of musicians that have been drawn to Amy's beautiful voice. Amy's latest CD is called "Subtle Changes in View", and it is available on CDBaby. I was fortunate enough to assist in producing this project with Amy.
TDB Band - 1975-77
Ric Troll, Jeff Boughner & Dave DeVos. Formed during my college years in 1976 - kind of a power trio playing fusion. I love Ric's speed and power on the drums and Jeff's searing guitar.
From it's start as a wedding band in 1971 to it's culmination as a major money-making club band in the late 70's, Soft Parade was a group that made dancing easy. Permanent Members were Wright McCargar - Keyboards, Ian McCargar - Drums, Dave DeVos - Bass. Ray Zwingeberg played sax in the early 70s, and Mike Amundsen in the late 70's. Dan Lomas played guitar for a while. Chris Meda sang with us from 76-79.
This was my first band experience. I played Trombone in a "Blood Sweat & Tears" kind of rock band. Chuck Foley - Guitar, Bill Moore - Bass, Ray Zwingeburg - Sax, Bill VanderPloeg - Trumpet, Ric Troll - Drums, Bob Banta - Keyboards, Jim Conlon - Vocals, and Dave DeVos - Trombone
At Michigan State University in 1977, I was part of this jazz group. It was formed to play the compositions of students in the composition class at MSU, some of which were quite good! Check it out. Lance Boylan - keyboards, Jay ? - Drums, Dave DeVos - Bass, Mike Amundsen - Tenor Sax, Dave Kay - Alto Sax, Steve ? - Trumpet.
Carnival - 1985-90
This was a wedding & club band I joined to make money - and we were quite successful at it! Lots of gigs around Grand Rapids. Tom Makita - Drums, Darla Makita - Keyboards, Mark Landaur - Guitar, Dave DeVos - Bass. We had several singers during this time.
Danny Heines, Jeff Boughner & Dave DeVos. After recording Danny & Jeff's first CD release in my home studio, I joined these two guitar masters in playing this accoustic jazz around Grand Rapids. We were regulars at the Biermeister in Grand Rapids, a Wealthy Street Jazz club.
Juniper Bear - 1972-74
I have a tribute site to this band - which influenced my life, and musical skills quite a bit. See it at www.juniperbear.homestead.com
This was a bar band I joined up in Cheboygan, MI. Bob Lake - Drums, Gary Stranaly - Lead Guitar, Larry - Guitar, Dave DeVos - Bass. As you can hear, we had fun. I was working up on Cheboygan after college.
Chris - If you' read this, please email me, I'd like to send you some CD's I made from the gig tapes but I don't know how to get in touch - You'll enjoy the music! With Love, Dave.
